Rants & Raves

Monday, May 31, 2004

If you’re like me, you often get a little tipsy on household cleaning product and do some really stupid stuff. Take for instance last weekend; I was clean around the bend on Harpic ™ when I though it would be a good idea to light a fire to warm myself up. Our fireplace is boarded up, so I got to work removing the offending panel. Next, I needed fuel for the fire; no problem, I have the board I removed to get to the fireplace, but it’s a bit too thick to light without kindling. I look about the room for some easy combustibles when my eyes fall on the CD rack.

To cut a short story even shorter - I need some new covers for my CDs and I found just the place to get them online. Disc-Cover is a program that automatically creates.. you guessed it.. disc-covers. They’re nothing special, but when life’s too hard to even scribble down a few song titles this is for you. You can either download the software (linux) or use the online version. Punch in the name of the artist and it searches FreeDB for the details. If you’re lucky there might be a picture of the original CD cover available to use for yours.

You must excuse me now while I go see what goodies are left under the sink.

Hello Mp3 fools/junkies. I don’t give a rats arse (hole) about P2P – no quality downloads, high risk of being hacked & just too good-golly-gosh-darn-it slow! If you feel the same way don’t fret good friends, we’z at Pig Meat ™ have what you’ve been looking for. Ummm that’s right a bunch of links to free downloads of quality merchandise:

illegal-art.org – click on the audio page to siphon off their free album “Stay Free.” Also check the video section for some movies worth their weight in download size.

Puzzling Music Archive - This site has an amazing list of artists you’ve probably never heard off, but wish you’d have learned of their existence earlier on (before breakfast). My favourite so far is The Teethe aka THFTFFTHF, but I’ve still to download most of them. Also I’d click on the mirror site which downloads faster.

Transmission 3000 – Has a large collection of live recordings. Stuff like: at the drive-in, blonde redhead, drive like jehu, fugazi, girls against boys, hot snakes, june of '44, the make-up, oxes, rocket from the crypt, shellac, slint, blah blah just go there.

Church of the Subgenius Hour of Slack - Every week you can hear what Rev. Ivan Stang and his cohorts have been up to, crazy freaks.

That’ll do you for now, I’ll be back later on to tell you more. Don’t go away you’re under my control now.

I was hanging out at Planet Cafe, when out of the primordial mist emerged the Hi-God People welcoming in the new epoch. Luckily I had my camera to gather evidence - click here bubba.
