REVIEW - PINK FLUFFY BUNNIES/CINEMA PRAGUE/THROMBUS

<PREV <BACK> NEXT>

Friday 23rd March 1990. At Centre Rock $5

The Entertainment Centre was getting some modifications done, so every time I go to Centre Rock it has a new entrance and a new location for the bands to play. Tonight was no different, they had moved the bands into the old Rocky Horror Bar. A bit cramped but better than nothing.

I arrived too late to witness the Pink Fluffy Bunnies in full flight. I was delighted to see Cinema Prague for the first time. I would have to say they're a very interesting three piece band to see and hear. It looked as though they enjoyed themselves as well as the audience, not like some other bands who just stand there inanimate. They are the only band I have ever seen that wear flairs. At one point they put their guitar down to dance and do hand stands on the front of the stage. The music Cinema Prague play is a type of Ambient Thrash, the "Play School" theme is even in their set. Very original Guys.

Thrombus was rather loose tonight, claiming it to be their worst gig yet, I would have to agree with them on that point. Between songs they abused the shit out of each other, their equipment and the Management, who got sick of it and stoped the gig 1/4 of an hour early.

Not much of a crowd tonight, consisting of Dread locked hard core heads, Neo-Nazi skins (Who got thrown out) and Yuppies who accidentally wandered in from the Dance Spectacular being held next door at the Entertainment Centre.

Basically to sum it up, half the gig was shit but Cinema Prague are the band to watch out for.
